What Ducks?

I saw this posting on Facebook and thought, I don’t think I have any of my ducks in a row, in fact I might have lost some of my ducks along the way.

I recently had my annual exam for my cognitive memory, and although it has diminished, it’s not as bad as it could be. Good news, right?

I think to most of us the challenge is we know we don’t have all of our ducks in a row, especially as we age, we can feel things are not quite like they used to be. But is this wisdom that comes with age or is the real question what are the right duck to have?

Let’s Change the Question a bit

When I proposed it this way to myself, I realized I had an interesting question. I guess I associate ducks with faculties, but there are so many other aspects we should consider. How about our physical self, our mental self, what about emotional and spiritual self?  Are those the ducks we need to try to keep in line?

We are so Busy

We deal with so many things today, multimedia, phones, text, Internet, email, Facebook, etc. So many things that we didn’t deal with before, we make our life so busy. Have we invited too many ducks into our lives?

I doubt there is a person among us that would answer” no”. But what ducks/clutter in our lives do we eliminate? I love that there are people out there that are striving to be minimalist. Certainly, in this day and age of consumerism, the idea of having and keeping less is a great idea. But just having fewer things does not solve the real problem.

What Ducks

The greatest opportunity we have for getting our ducks in a row, lies in looking at our most precious commodity… Time. All the electronics and entertainment are great, but they all compete for our time and interest. Worse, most of them impact us mentally, and some physical.

I’m not here to tell you to get rid of them, I am just raising the question are these the real ducks we need to keep in line? When we have too many of them isn’t that when they are to really hard to keep in a row?

For me, I know I need to sit down, write them down, and…

Go Duck Hunting.
